As October dawns we reflect on another season. Despite some issues with the weather. we have accomplished great things for the park in 2013. The major project was the upgrades to the Peterson Shelter complex. This Stewardship project was completed on time and within budget. The facility will be an excellent spot for programming and will continue to serve park visitors for generations.
We are pleased to announce that the Friends of Wisconsin State Parks has selected Wyalusing as the "Best place to hold a family reunion" Gold seal award for 2013.
Our own Randy Paske is being honored by the DNR as "Volunteer of the year". The department presents this recognition every three years to three individuals who have made a difference. A great and well deserved tribute!
It is indeed nice to see that the efforts made for our parks are appreciated.
As we wind down 2013 we look ahead to 2014. The Friends of Wyalusing State Park are looking forward to working with the Wisconsin society of Ornithology, the Aldo Leopold Foundation and the DNR on marking the centennial of the last Passenger Pigeon. Improvements are already underway on the monument as well as planning for a rededication and a PBS video documentary. Our park will once again be in the spotlight and we will do our part to help it shine.
