Gold Seal Award Winners

Congratulations!

Wyalusing State Park has won the 2010 Gold Seal Award for the Best Water Trail --and-- the Hero Award for Successful Friends Group!

I know that this message comes with short notice but we hope that you will join us for the Friends of Wisconsin State Parks Annual Awards Banquet on Friday, October 22, 2010. Dinner will be served at 6pm and the awards will start at 7pm. All Friends members and Park staff who would like to attend are invited. We hope that someone from Wyalusing can attend to accept the award and you are welcome to bring a guest.

The event will be at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Arboretum in Madison, WI. Before the banquet, there will be a tour of the UW Madison for those interested. I have attached a schedule of events for the day, follow this link for directions to the arboretum: http://uwarboretum.org/visit/.

Please let me know at your earliest convenience if you plan to attend and how many people will be coming. If you require a vegetarian entree, please also include this information. Dinner for one location representative and a guest will be complimentary. All other Friends members or Park staff will be asked to pay a $10/dinner contribution.   • Best Green Initiative - Governor Dodge State Park, for solar
    lighting for the park�s highway entrance sign and memorial flagpole and
    for using an electric park maintenance vehicle.
  • Best Kayaking or Canoeing - Rock Island State Park
  • Best Children�s Program - Peninsula State Park
  • Best View from a Campsite - Newport State Park
  • Best Special Event Venue - Devil�s Lake State Park
  • Best Day Use Park - Whitefish Dunes State Park
  • Best Water Trail - Wyalusing State Park
  • Best Winter Camping Spot - Pattison State Park
  • Best Snowshoeing Trail - Mirror Lake State Park
  • Best Candlelight Event - Kohler-Andrae State Park

State Park Hero Awards

In addition to the Gold Seals, the statewide Friends of Wisconsin
State Parks will be recognizing a DNR land manager, a local Friends
group, and a Friends member with State Park Hero awards. These awards
showcase the terrific leadership and exemplary service of individuals
and groups that selflessly supporting the State Park System in 2010.


The winners of the State Park Hero Awards are:


  • Outstanding DNR Land Manager- Tom Kroeger, Lakeshore State Park
  • Successful Friends Group- Friends of Wyalusing State Park
  • Friends Hero- Sharon Kaminecki, Friends of Badger Trail
