Spirits of Wyalusing State Park

Just over 250 people walked along a luminary lit trail at Wyalusing State Park on Saturday evening, September 27, 2008. The free event was held from 7:00 P.M. to 9:30 P.M. Over three dozen pumpkins carved by a Prairie du Chien Girl Scout Troop also decorated the trails and shelters.

People were divided into five groups. Each group traveled, with a guide, stopping to listen to volunteer re-enactors. The re-enactors related events and people reflecting on the history of Wyalusing State Park.

The Spirits of Wyalusing State Park portrayed a flint knapper, a Jesuit Priest, a character from the park – Wyalusing Joe, a Native American story teller, and a seeker of the Wyalusing treasure.

Guests were treated to snacks prepared by the Friends of Wyalusing after the walk.
